About me

For as long as I can remember, I wanted to write. Growing up, I added other interests, notably research and teaching. Latterly, I have used my experience to branch out into giving talks. 

I was first published, excitingly, aged 15, when I wrote an article for the local paper. Then came a Degree in English Literature followed by becoming an editor and writing articles at a London design studio; these included travel articles for 16-23-year-olds and cartoons for 3-10-year-olds, both of which were fun. I also did publicity for Tarmac Building Products and articles for the British Dental Journal: the oral surgeon editor told me that I could write on anything, provided it had teeth in it!  

As library visits/reading are second nature to writers, I was asked by the county’s Head of Libraries to research how library footfall could be increased. This culminated in a nationwide report and I was included in a delegation that visited Italian libraries.

During this time, I also gained a teaching qualification. My subsequent teaching has included creative writing, memoir writing, English for people with learning difficulties/disabilities, Level 2 English for apprentices, Family Learning as well as an Information, Advice & Guidance qualification for those wanting to get back into employment.  

Currently, I am available to give talks as well as teaching Creative/Memoir Writing.
